“don’t own a boat / yacht if you can’t look after it”
as a sailor – boat owner – boat builder – broker ,it never ends to surprise me how badly some boat owners neglect there boat ,then these same owners when selling expect to get top dollar for it ……….
we recently came across a beautiful yacht we owned back in 2000 – 2003 a Lavranos morgan 31 it was the most beautifull yacht in durban marina every one used to comment on her – we came across our boat in houtbay marina,if the name was not on the bow we would never have recognized her – what a shame its been turned into a piece of shit is the only words to describe her.
you have buyers who buy a beautifull boat and neglect them badly – and you get buyers fortunatly who buy a neglected boat and turn it into a beautifull boat.
from a brokers point of view and advice look after your investment because not only will you get your money back but will bring you endless joy saling – but if your boat has not been looked after and you have tured it into a neglected wreck …then dont expect a goob price,so if it gets to a point that maintaing your boat is unafordable rather sell while you can get a good resell price.
